CLYC New Deck Project:

Your CLYC Board of Directors is excited to share with you a new development to our grounds.  A new deck will be built beside the club house. The project will be funded by a club member.

The following are two artist renderings of the new deck (note that: The glass "lean wall" has been replaced with bench seating.  Also, the flagpole will be moved approximately ten feet west, and placed in a new green buffer zone.):

The project will use the same architectural footprint and design inspiration which was approved by the CLYC board about ten years ago.

We have carefully taken into consideration the longevity of the project and have selected materials that are safe, durable and environmentally friendly. Stamped concrete stained grey to match existing deck color. Stamped concrete will give deck texture, be less slippery and will not have splinters. It will last longer than a conventional wood deck.

Deck will be approximately 640 square feet in area with necessary drainage sloping and expansion joints to prevent cracking.

Accessibility, both ends of deck will be ramped so that it will be handicap  accessible allowing access to the views of Crystal Lake.

Landscaping, we will keep the existing plants (junipers) and transplant them to other locations on the CLYC property. A new green "buffer zone" will added between the bench seating and the parking lot.

Seasonal color will be used in the new planters. Addition of two planters on either side of new deck to allow ingress and egress to deck. Planter boxes will help deter ice fisherman from using blue ramp.

Bench seating will be recycled wood/plastic. Other building materials will be environmentally friendly, such as low odor paint and reprocessed  steel where applicable.

Seating: “senior seating” for the bench (a “comfort height” of 18-19” for sitting ease) facing the lake. Elbow rests will be added for comfort. Arm rests will be added for comfort.

Updated outdoor lighting and outlets. New electrical lines will be shielded in conduit for the lighting control of the light post, and under-the-bench accent lighting.

New stairs at north end of deck will be concrete with metal powder coated hand railing.

A local Michigan registered architect Mark Bischak has been hired to complete and approve all drawings and building ideas.

New usable space for both CLYC and CDCC

Project has board approval of both clubs.

Construction is slated to commence September 7, 2010, after CLYC racing season has been completed, and docks have been stored for the winter.

Notes:

Renderings are conceptual, and have been modified since drawn.

Changes include: Glass "lean wall" has been replaced with bench seating. Flagpole will be moved approximately ten feet west, and placed in new green buffer zone.
