Nominating Committee Policy

The Nominating Committee may be appointed by Commodore under By-Laws:  Article V:  Committees Section 10:  Other Committees:  The Commodore may also appoint such other special committees as the program of the club require.

Policy approved May 30, 2010 by CLYC Board of Directors:

The Commodore will appoint at the first meeting of each season a nominating committee to be composed of:

Vice-Commodore

Two Past –Commodores

One present Board Member

One member at large

The Nominating Committee will consist of a total of five members.   They will elect their own Chairperson.  No member of this committee shall be recommended to serve on the Board-Elect.

The duties of the Secretary of CLYC are to collect recommendations/letters of intent from members at large and act as Ex-Officio member.  (no vote)  Letters of recommendation/or willingness to serve may be delivered to the secretary prior to the posted date of Nominating Committee meeting/ or delivered directly to a member of the Nominating Committee.

The Secretary will contact the members of the committee, will set and post the meeting dates.

The Chairman of the Committee will present to the CLYC Board their recommendations with alternates if necessary. (It is noted that all nominees will be aware of their consideration & have already noted their willingness to serve.)  

After the CLYC Board votes on these recommendations, the Chairman of the Nominating Committee will contact the individuals nominated.

The individuals’ names will be recommended at the Annual Meeting for Membership approval/vote.
