1950s Junior Fleet Reunion

Last Update: August 01, 2006

The 1950s Junior Fleet reunited the weekend of August 11-13, 2000.  The parties may not have lasted quite as long as they did in the 1950s, or even 1983, but they were every bit as much fun!   Shown on these pages are pictures of the major events.

(These pages will be slow to download via phone modems, but they're worth the wait!)

Ahoy Mates!

The Junior Fleet Reunion is one month away, August 4, 5 and 6.  Gather up your memorabilia.  Tammy Transue Royle will be serving as historian and will have a table display in the Clubhouse.

Click here for a short questionnaire that you should complete by August I and return to Bill Cotsworth by e-mail or send to Cindy Wattenberg Berg's P. O. Box 72, Frankfort, MI 49635.  (Click here for a PDF version.)  We will include it in a memory book, with a cover designed by Barbara Hughes.  The same design will be printed on this year's reunion Tee shirt.

Registration will begin at 5 pm on Friday, August 4 at the club.  You can pick up your book, shirt and check out the memorabilia at that time. We need a preliminary head count for the events, so please let Bill know by August 1 if you are participating

Beginning at 6 pm on Friday, members of the current junior fleet will shuttle us from the Yacht Club to Bob and Barbara Hughes' beach on Lake Michigan, off Old State Road for a picnic.  As in the past families are included and it's a bring your own food and booze event.  The shuttle and beach cleanup are a fundraiser for the current junior fleet and the cost is included in the reunion ticket.

On Saturday, August 5th, at 9 am to about noon, Tom and Cathy Williams have arranged for a golf scramble at the Frankfort Public Golf Course.  The format will be a 9 hole, 4 person scramble with a shotgun start, two carts per team.  Various prizes will be awarded at the Commodore's Ball that evening.

Saturday afternoon, Toby Tull and Bob Hughes have put together a fun sailing event.  There should be enough Wood-Pussies so that everyone can participate.  Again trophies, including the Hughes Perpetual Trophy, will be awarded that evening.

George and Patsy Lindner have made arrangements for a catered Commodore' s Ball on Saturday evening.  There will also be live music, the kind we can actually dance to!!  Trophy presentations will be made, and informal remarks and toasts are encouraged...

And on Sunday, Chelin and Rey are hosting a "Come as You Were" brunch at the Betsie Bay Inn, formerly the Frankfort Hotel.  Just wear something typical of the "way you were."

More details on all of the events will be available at registration.  Total cost for all events and materials will be $125 per person including tips and a gift to the current junior fleet..
